havent even started on the trek yet !!
The Annapurna Sanctuary is a perfect introduction to the Himalayan trekking. The awesome south face of Annapurna I (8091m) in a natural amphitheatre is quite a mind blowing experience.
The Annapurna Base Camp trek is a moderate nature trek that starts at Phedi, 45mins drive from Pokhara, which takes you to the foot (base camp 4130masl) of Mt Annapurna, one of the most magnificent peaks in the world. The trail takes you thru fascinating traditional villages of Nepal's ethnic communities of the Gurung, Magar and Thakali. The hike continues thru the dense Rhododendron forest wih towering snowy peaks in the background.
The return trek takes you pass Gorephani where you witness breath-taking views of an early morning sunrise through the glistening gaps over the snow capped peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains. At lower altitudes, the combination of pretty villages and terraced fields of millet, rice and corn coupled by the majestic splendour of Machapuchare (6993m) Annapurna I and Hiunchuli (6441m) makes this an extremely unforgettable experience.
